Most men and women have unwanted body hair; studies show that about 80% of women and 50% of men are using a technique to remove body hair. Body hair removal can be done in a number of different ways.
Hair removal of the hands, legs, arms, underarms, bikini area, face, and eyebrows are commonly practiced these days. It is becoming more and more popular for men to remove body hair in other areas beside their face.
Different devices are used for hair removal in different areas of the body. Waxing, sugaring, and electrolysis are the most preferred methods for permanent body hair removal. Laser treatments are becoming more popular for permanent removal.
Waxing is done by applying wax to the unwanted hair and then a cotton strip is rubbed on the wax in the direction of hair growth. The cotton is then pulled of in the opposite direction of the hair growth to remove the hair.
Waxing removes the hairs form the roots and so the regrowth can take up to 8 weeks. After the hair is removed is usually grows back thinner and sparser in the area. Sugaring is similar to waxing but a sugar paste is used instead of wax. After using one of these methods it is smart to use a growth inhibitor to prevent hair growth.
Electrolysis and laser treatments are used to remove hairs permanently from the skin. In these methods the follicle is destroyed so that the hair does not grow again. Electrolysis uses needles to supply electric current to the hair follicle. This electric current creates some chemical changes or generates heat to destroy the hair follicles. In laser treatments the laser destroys the hair follicles.
