Practice Philosophy

Dr. Crofts Background

After living outside the state for seven years during my surgical training, I returned to Utah. Family, outdoor beauty, recreational opportunity and autonomy in my practice lured me back. I now have the freedom to follow my dreams of engaging in international humanitarian healthcare and running a successful plastic surgery practice and medical spa.

On an annual basis, I participate in medical mission trips to Africa, Ghana, Kenya and China in partnership with the Humanitarian Aid Relief Team. HART not only changes the lives of people receiving the treatment, but also the lives of volunteers, such as myself.

At the time I entered medical school, I wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. It didn’t take long to fall in love with plastic surgery. I continue to be drawn to the mix of meticulous surgical technique and artful expression that combine to create excellence for patients. I wanted to become one of the great aesthetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons in the world.

My establishing of Aesthetica Plastic Surgery and Aesthetica Medical Spa has brought me even closer to this wonderful community. My wife Katie and I continue to enjoy the friendships we make.

This great profession has taught me countless things. What I’ve learned most is that it’s about people, their lives and their happiness. That continues to drive me in my practice and puts a smile on my heart.

Board Certification

The American Board of Plastic Surgery is one of 24 medical boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). Its mission is to promote safe, ethical, and efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for education, examination, and certification. In order to be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, physicians must regularly attend courses and conferences designed to continually update their medical education. They must also pass regular Board exams relating to their continuing education. Dr. Crofts is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Crofts has also been elected a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS), the world’s largest professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in patient care by advancing laser and other energy-based technologies. ASPS was founded in 1931 and consists of board-certified plastic surgeons that perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. It is the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. Those certified only operate in accredited facilities, adhere to a strict code of ethics and regularly attend medical education courses. Through these guidelines, surgeons carry out the ASPS mission of advancing the best possible care to patients. The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) was founded in 1967 with the mission of advancing the science, art, and safe practice of aesthetic plastic surgery & cosmetic medicine through education, research, and innovation while maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct. ASAPS is recognized as the world’s leading professional organization of board-certified plastic surgeons who are solely dedicated to perfecting aesthetic procedures of the face, nose, body and breasts. Its members are called Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, to honor their many additional years of highly-specialized training and their passionate commitment to the Art and Science of Aesthetic Surgery and Medicine. ASAPS membership remains an exclusive privilege for surgeons who possess the necessary qualifications. Only about a fourth of all surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery have been accepted as ASAPS members. Physicians who have been trained in specialties other than plastic surgery are not eligible for ASAPS membership.
