The Frax 1550, or the “Frax Laser”, is a fractional laser used to resurface and rejuvenate the skin. This non-ablative treatment uses fractionated, or tiny fractions, of powerful laser beams to stimulate collagen production while also promoting rapid healing. Increased collagen production improves the appearance of scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and overall skin texture.
The Frax laser is part of the Nordlys system- a foundational platform for an array of light-based treatments including the Nordlys IPL. This is where the Nordlys Frax name comes from. The 1550 part of the name comes from the wavelength used to perform the procedure.
Benefits of the Nordlys Frax treatment include:
- Visibly reduces the appearance of scars, expression lines, and wrinkles
- Stimulates collagen production
- Safe and effective to treat darker skin tones
- Little to no downtime

Patients may return to regular activities immediately after treatment. The treated areas may look slightly pink for a day or two following treatment. In some cases, the skin may also feel a bit warm or dry. The Master Esthetician performing your treatment will apply topical products immediately after treatment to help cool down and hydrate the skin. They will also recommend medical grade skincare products to aid you with your recovery at home to help enhance the results of your treatment. It is important to wear sunscreen after your treatment and to avoid sun exposure.
When will I see results?
Some patients report noticing results after 1 treatment. However, a series of 3-4 treatments may be recommended. Here at Aesthetica, we customize your treatment plan to help you achieve optimal results.
What treatments can be combined with the Frax 1550?
Receiving a microdermabrasion treatment right before your Frax laser treatment may enhance your results.
What is the cost of the Frax 1550 treatment?
The Frax laser treatment is $650 regular price, or $390 for Aesthetica Loyalty Members. Learn more about Aesthetica Loyalty Memberships here.
Is the treatment painful?
Most patients report feeling a tingling sensation and some heat in the skin during treatment. The Frax laser is built with a SoftCool air cooling system, which makes the treatment more comfortable for patients. We recommend using a topical numbing cream prior to treatment.
How does the Frax laser work?
The infrared laser energy emitted by the Frax 1550 targets the water in skin cells and vaporizes them.
