At Aesthetica Medical Spa, we offer our patients different forms of TRT here in Utah. We offer BioTE pellet therapy and, in some cases, we can prescribe our patients gels, creams, and testosterone injections. Some patients may require a combination of methods for optimal results. Each method of administration has its pros and cons; this can be discussed in further detail during your testosterone replacement therapy consultation.
BioTE pellets are the size of a grain of rice and are inserted in the fatty tissue of the buttocks or flanks. This is a quick and easy in-office procedure performed by an Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner. BioTE TRT is tolerated well by most patients and is our favorite form of testosterone replacement therapy in Utah. Typically, pellets can last 3-4 months for women and 5-6 months for men.
Testosterone injections are injected into the muscle and the frequency varies depending on the patient, but typically patients inject themselves one to two times per week. Although this method is usually cheaper, it can be inconsistent with most patients. Testosterone injection patients can experience spikes in testosterone levels within the first day or so of injection and a significant drop after a couple days. Testosterone injections are prescribed to you by an Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner and can be picked up at your pharmacy.
Creams and gels are prescribed by an Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner and can be picked up from your pharmacy. This form of TRT is absorbed through the skin and needs to be applied daily. Patients who choose this method need to be extra cautious to avoid transferring medication onto others, especially children. Patients who apply testosterone gels and creams can be at risk for skin irritations.
A lot of times people forget that women also naturally produce testosterone in their bodies, and it’s just as essential for women to have normal testosterone levels as it is for men. Benefits of testosterone replacement therapy for women include increased libido, lowered risk of Alzheimer’s disease, lower risk of breast cancer and heart disease, increased bone density and muscle mass, better sleep, more manageable weight, improved mood, and much more!
At Aesthetica we offer our patients BioTE pellet therapy as the main form of treatment for low testosterone. Other treatments we can prescribe include testosterone creams, gels, and injections.

Like everything else in life, there are also downsides and risks associated with testosterone replacement therapy. Although these risks are uncommon, they can occur. Although rare, some possible side effects and risks of TRT include:
If you’re experiencing any of these side effects, let your Aesthetica provider know.
At Aesthetica Medical Spa, each patient is individually assessed and testosterone replacement therapy treatment is personalized for each patient's body needs and concerns. Some patients however may not be candidates for TRT in Utah.
Patients who have or suspect they might have prostate cancer, unevaluated lumps on prostates, breast cancer, untreated sleep apnea, or patients with kidney, heart, or liver diseases may not be candidates for testosterone therapy.
During your consultation, one of Aesthetica’s Nurse Practitioners will review your medical history and make an evaluation if you’re a good candidate or not for TRT. Testosterone replacement therapy is not a cure for low testosterone. Once patients stop treatment, the symptoms of low testosterone will re-appear.
