Is laser hair removal permanent?

Laser hair removal is considered a long-term hair reduction treatment rather than a permanent solution. It works by reducing the amount of hair growth, the thickness of hair, and the speed at which hair grows.

At Aesthetica, many patients find that after completing their laser hair removal sessions, they only need one or two touch-up sessions per year. Results can vary depending on factors such as hormonal changes, genetics, skin and hair color, and certain medications that may influence hair growth patterns.

What things should I know before starting laser hair removal?

Things you should know before starting laser hair removal include:

Avoid tanning, this includes the sun, beds, and spray tans, 2 weeks before and after treatment.
Shave the treatment area 24–48 hours before your session.
Stop waxing, pulling, or plucking hair in the treatment area.
Inform your provider of all medications or supplements you are taking, including any new ones, as some can increase the risk of skin sensitivity or burns.
Be mindful of changes in your skincare routine, as certain products can also increase the risk of burns.
