Acne is one of the most common skin conditions and it can cause redness, tenderness, and can even sometimes be painful. Acne can also affect one’s self confidence and self esteem. When choosing products for acne prone skin, it can seem difficult with the hundreds of products on the market targeted towards acne. However, it is best practice with any skin condition, specially acne, to choose medical grade acne products as well as consulting a skincare professional.
Here at Aesthetica Medical Spa in Utah, we have some of the best master aestheticians to help! We offer the EMAGE Advanced Imaging Skin Analysis, a $75 value, free as a part of your complimentary skin care consultation. Additionally, we carry a variety of products for acne prone skin. Below are some skincare for acne prone skin that we recommend for our patients:
This AHA BHA cleanser has glycolic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and malic acid which are all alpha-hydroxy acids or AHA’s. These acids work as exfoliants by reducing the amount of calcium in the skin which leads to skin shedding and declogging of pores and preventing future clogs from forming.
Salicylic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid or BHA, a common ingredient in most acne products. This salicylic acid cleanser exfoliates skin like AHA, but its antibacterial properties is what makes it such an effective skincare product for acne prone skin.
ZO Oil Control Pads contain 2% salicylic acid. This BHA gently exfoliates the skin and has antibacterial properties which makes it an ideal ingredient for acne treatment.
Mandelic acid and glycolic acid are both BHA’s. These two ingredients work together to gently exfoliate the skin and reduce the appearance of acne scars as well as redness caused by acne. These oil control pads are one of the best products for acne and acne scars.
This natural, clay-based mask contains sulfur, an abundant, naturally occurring element. This gentle ingredient has antimicrobial properties that remove excess sebum that lead to acne and dries dead skin cells unclogging pores.
Kaolin and bentonite clay remove excess oils, secretions, and contaminants from the skin that lead to acne and help keep pores clear to prevent future breakouts while hydrating the skin.
This gentle facial scrub contains salicylic acid, an AHA, and lactic acid, a BHA, that work together to gently remove dead skin cells and unclog pores, as well as avoid future pores from occurring.
ZO-RRS2® is a ZO exclusive plant stem cell complex which offers the skin antioxidants reducing inflammation caused by acne as well as reducing redness caused by acne.
This moisturizing overnight cream contains AlphaRet which is a combination of lactic acid, an AHA, and retinoid unique to Skinbetter. The retinoid and lactic acid work together to unclog pores and gently exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells and regenerate new skin cells.
