Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), or microneedling, is one of the most popular skin rejuvenation treatments here at Aesthetica. Microneedling as we know it today has been around since 1995. Since then, microneedling has had advancements to boost its benefits. One of which is the introduction of RF microneedling. So what is microneedling? What is RF microneedling? And what is the difference between microneedling and RF microneedling?
Microneedling is a skin rejuvenation treatment that relies on the body’s capacity to repair itself. During treatment, a handheld device with tiny needles penetrates the skin. These micro-injuries promote the skin’s natural healing process. In turn, the treated area(s) collagen and elastin production increases.
Microneedling can help with the following skin concerns:
Radiofrequency (RF) microneedling takes traditional microneedling up a level. It combines the benefits and properties of microneedling with fractionated radiofrequency technology. Here at Aesthetica we use the Morpheus8 device for RF microneedling.
Morpheus8 penetrates the skin to create small, controlled injuries while emitting RF energy with incredible precision and temperature and depth controls. Morpheus8 penetrates the skin much deeper than microneedling. It can penetrate up to 8mm deep, in some cases, allowing for adipose tissue contact. With this depth, it allows not only for increased collagen and elastin production, but also skin contouring and tightening.
Morpheus8 RF microneedling can help with:
In short, yes. When compared to microneedling, Morpheus8 can provide more noticeable results. Morpheus8 penetrates deeper into the skin and has the added benefits of RF technology. Morpheus8 RF microneedling can treat more than what microneedling treats. Morpheus8 also addresses skin laxity with precise radiofrequency energy delivery.
It can be hard to decide which treatment may be right for you. Both microneedling and Morpheus8 are effective treatments that are safe on all skin tones, but they work in different ways. When it comes to deciding which treatment is right for you, our Master Estheticians look at your skin concerns and the severity.
