What do celebrities do to get rid of cellulite?

cellulite free skin

Celebrities aren’t immune to cellulite; they just invest in clinically-proven treatments to help reduce the appearance of their cellulite. There are many treatments on the market for the treatment of cellulite including Avéli, Cellfina, and Cellulaze. There are also skincare products, but how promising are the results of these treatments and products?

What is cellulite and what causes cellulite?

Before we dive into the different treatments and products offered for cellulite and their efficacy, we need to understand what cellulite is and the causes of it. Cellulite is the dimpling or bumpy texture we see on our thighs and buttocks. Patients often confuse skin laxity with cellulite. There’s an easy test you can do at home to see if you’re dealing with skin laxity or cellulite, since the two are different skin concerns and require different treatments. To do so, gently pull up on your skin above the dimple, if the dimple still exists, then it’s probably cellulite. However, if the dimple disappears and your skin smooths out, that’s a sign that you’re dealing with skin laxity. Click here to learn more about skin laxity and the treatments we offer at Aesthetica

Cellulite affects about 90% of women and is a natural process of aging. Genetics and weight loss can play a role in cellulite too. Cellulite is caused by septa bands. These bands are fibrous tissue bands that connect the skin to structures below. Septa bands shrink and stiffen over time causing the skin to dimple.

Because cellulite is caused by skin structures, creams and other topical skincare products can’t treat the cause. We recommend you to skip these products and avoid wasting your money on them. Instead, look for clinically proven treatments for long-term results that actually work.

Avéli vs Cellfina vs Cellulaze

You might have heard of one or more of these cellulite treatments, maybe you haven’t heard anything at all. So what’s the difference between Avéli, Cellfina, and Cellulaze?

Cellfina

Cellfina is a minimally invasive treatment that suctions the dimpled area with a device and uses a tiny blade to cut septa using windshield wiper motion. Cellfina has a 25% Worth It rating on RealSelf and this may be because it’s not a precise treatment. The blade that is used to cut the septa isn’t guided in any way and the provider has to use a windshield wiper motion to cut the bands once the microblade is under the skin. There is also the risk of cutting other anatomical structures and tissues under the skin aside from septa since there is nothing to guide the provider once the device is inserted under the skin.

Cellulaze

Cellulaze is another option for the treatment of cellulite. This device has a long wand that is inserted below the skin. The wand uses heat and laser energy to melt the fat surrounding septa and cuts the septa bands. Since Cellulaze heats up the skin and fat, there is a higher risk for more side effects and patients may have more downtime. Cellulaze has an 83% Worth It rating on RealSelf. Cellulaze patients require three to six treatments for optimal results. Results are not permanent and patients require ongoing maintenance treatments.

Avéli

Avéli uses a similar technique as Cellfina to cut septa bands, but Avéli is very precise. Once your provider has marked the dimpling on your thigh and/or buttocks, they insert a long, thin instrument under the skin that is light directed. The provider can then maneuver around and once they have reached the septa bands, they use the retractable blade to cut septa bands. The retractable blade and light targets cellulite dimpling and leaves other tissue and structures intact. Avéli has a 92% Worth It rating on RealSelf.

Avéli is the best way to remove or get rid of cellulite. It has been named the “best minimally invasive cellulite treatment.” Avéli is an industry gold standard for the treatment of cellulite because:

  • Patients only need one treatment to see results
  • It’s an in-office 1 hour appointment
  • Provides patients with long-lasting results
  • There is minimal downtime
  • It’s done under local anesthesia
  • It can be combined with other body contouring and skin tightening treatments for optimal results

What can I expect during my Avéli appointment?

Once you come in for your Avéli appointment, one of our Nurse Practitioners will determine which areas on your thighs and buttocks are true cellulite. Once the areas have been marked, your Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner will use a local anesthetic to numb the treatment area.

After you are marked and numb, you can lay on your stomach, scroll through your phone, listen to music, watch a movie, or watch TikTok videos. During the treatment itself, you may experience tugging and maybe minimal pain.

What can I expect after my Avéli appointment?

After your Avéli procedure, you will wear compression garments, which should be worn for two weeks post-treatment. For the first few days following your procedure, you may experience tenderness in the treated area. If you’re experiencing pain and discomfort, you can take over-the-counter pain medication as directed by your Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner. Feel free to walk around your home for increased blood circulation to help speed up your recovery process, but avoid vigorous cardio and exercise for at least two weeks.

You may also have bruising and swelling for the first couple of weeks after your Avéli appointment. You can take arnica as directed by your Aesthetica Nurse Practitioner if you wish, but this too will subside.

How can I get started?

Get started by scheduling a complimentary consultation with one of Aesthetica’s Nurse Practitioners to see if you’re a candidate. From there, your Nurse Practitioner will give you all the steps necessary to get you started for cellulite-free skin.
